Stainburn

Does anyone have any ideas when the new line at Stainburn Forest (Otley) is going to be completed & is it going to be fast & flowing with jumps, switchbacks & berms etc.? I was told about a year or so ago that the clearing was going to be used for a dual track or something similar. Is this true?

Go along to a dig day and find out for your self !

That's what I like to see. The good old camaraderie of UK bikers. Don't make it locals only otherwise you'll undo other peoples hard work of trying to unite riders & their common interest. Not everyone can get to dig days as much as they'd like to with work & family commitments. I thought it was quite a normal question to ask but there you go obviously not!

Dudster - most of the diggers have jobs and kids - i don't see them making excuses about not making it to dig days. they just turn up when they can (and bring the kids if necessary).

if you read the front page of the singletraction website you'll find the answer to your question there !

Wind your neck in anonymous! I've done my fair share of digging & never have made any excuses for not getting to dig days. People like yourself obviously hold grudges against people who can't or won't dig. I'm sure you are well aware that they are voluntary & I presume you have some involvement in the digging. You should be one of the people who encourage others to come along to dig days. With the kind of attitude that you've shown towards me on my blog I would be very surprised if anyone would want to meet up to help dig with you. You are not the best advert for getting involved. For such a simple question which may also inform others who wish to read it, it certainly has rattled your cage. I presume you don't dig at every place that you ride. If you want to just have a clicky group riding then go & buy some land & build a private track, then you could be happy in the knowledge that it is all yours.

LOL. defensive aren't we !

My initial helpful suggestion was met with weak excuses, which i thought i was helping you to deal with. Obviously it touched another nerve :O)

I didn't realise you were a shrink, I suggest you re-train in the 'art of being helpful' as your skills in this area appear to be severely lacking. I am very grateful for your concern & thanks for your efforts in helping me 'deal with my weak excuses' but all my other therapists are busy dealing with these. Please feel free to release yourself from your anonymity. I haven't set up my blog for a slanging match. If you want to slag me off then use the correct channels like the Singletraction Forum which is where I presume you are from.

Come along to the next dig day and you can meet me face to face.

Which brings me neatly back to my first post about how to find out what's going on.

Neat huh !

Blah blah blah blah blah. Yah de yah de yah!ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Sorry, fell asleep!
Like I said show yourself on the Forum if you don't mind your fellow diggers knowing how you drum up business.
Gotta go now these jumps won't build themselves you know.

Nah, you show yourself at the next dig day and we'll talk face to face :O)

Or you post a link to this on the Singeltraction forum and we'll let the rest of singletraction decide if i'm good at drumming up business or not.....

I feel like I've just got famous as I seem to have my own stalker.
Do you really think that I want to meet you & help you dig after all this. Stop pestering me on my blog, I didn't set it up for this purpose. It does seem ironic that I asked the same initial question on Singletraction & you weren't quite so vocal then. I might take you up on the offer of starting a thread on the forum & if everyone agrees then fair enough I'll stay away from it. Just bear in mind that I presume you have friends on there so maybe slightly one sided but hey I'll live with that. Bully boy tactics have never worked with me & I don't think they'll start now. Get off your high horse & get over your attitude. I hope you give the same grief to everyone that rides at Stainburn & has never dug there.

The good thing about being anonymous is no one at singletraction will know who is posting these comments - could be one person, could be many, but at the end of the day they will decide on what has been said, rather than what they know of the poster. I find it makes for a more objective discussion.

If you don't want people leaving comments i assume you can switch this functionality off in your blog ?

Ooooh! you are such a cheeky monkey.

Anonymous might be, but they aren't the SingletrAction Cheeky Monkey. Although I'm sure that's not what you're implying.

Charlie don't surf and Land don't dig... You SingleTrack boys are so far up your own arses I'm surprised you can swing a shovel.... hold on I've seen Stainburn... you can't!!

Winter fever on forums. Brilliant.

Winter fever on forums

Sounds like you got it bad :)

Usually when people complain about Stainburn it generally means they can't ride it and have had a bad experience (fallen off, hurt themselves or their pride and joy, etc). As far as i can see the any of the trail built by Singletraction meets or exceeds any trail building specification you can find.

PS It's 'singletraction', the singletrack boys are all rigid singlespeeds and mincing about drinking tea and whisky.

Dudester must be loving this attention on his blog :)

It does seem that the original anonymous doesn't like it if someone might possibly agree with the blogger. And there you go slagging other bikers off - tut tut - not good. Won't do your efforts to get diggers any good will it?
Haven't I seen you on Grumpy Old Men?

Anonymous said...

Hold on, i'm all confused as to the point of this now.

So Dudster and i (an anonymous) have a discussion about digging, in which dudster frankly goes off on one, putting words into my mouth, etc, etc.

Then along comes anonymous number 2 and basically slags off the hard work done by the Singletraction diggers.

To which the only option is to defend their work and correct the incorrect assumption that singletraction and singletrack are one and the same.

So the point of the last post is - i can't see you agreeing with dudster (i thought he quite liked Stainburn ?) and i thought we'd already established that most riders can't be arsed to dig so why should i worry about that - i doubt after your 'constructive comments re:stainburn you are going to come along and offer the benefit of your knowledge to improve the trail construction ?

And you probably have seen me on grumpy old men, only i don't just sit and moan about things, i actually make the effort to change 'em for the better.

;O)

Whoa! It seems to be getting a bit out of hand here. There are a lot of anonymous, so nobody knows who is who & who is saying what. You're right I haven't slagged off Stainburn but originally, I simply asked what I thought was a normal question, to which I got a patronising answer. If this was really meant to be helpful then anonymous 1 would have said "It's going to be like this......blah blah blah.... but if you're interested then come along to a dig day etc." not a one line answer like you gave. To answer the question on the forum about such a question being asked about such a specific area. If like me & a lot of other riders you travel to different riding locations around the UK then you might check out riding spots in that area which may include looking on blogs. If I want find out if any work is going on in Scotland, should I drive up there to find out on a dig day? I'm positive that won't satisfy you but that's how it is & anyway you read it & you knew what what going on building wise & anyone less uptight may have answered it without the attitude. But I think you have shown your true colours with your comments about other bikers. By the way I like the almost constant miss spelling of the name - surely not more sarcasm from the funny man - STOP or my sides will split!!

Anonymous said...

And just when it was getting interesting as well.

Sorry about the name misspelling - it's just what i was reading - maybe i'm unknowingly dyslexic.

As we are never going to agree i guess we'll never need to know who we are.

Have fun with anonymous number 2 - he sounds more like a stalker/stirrer to me !

"Sorry about the name misspelling - it's just what i was reading - maybe i'm unknowingly dyslexic."

Somebody stop this guy!!! He's so clever and such a wit!!! Ahahahahahahhhahahaaaa! Cock...

I dig almost every day. But I don't use it to inflate my own ego and act the big-shot on message boards. I've seen you 'SingleTrack'shion' fellas doing this kind of thing on forums before. If anyone has the audacity to even slightly disagree with you or questions your methods it's straight in to patronise and shout down whilst making the most of the opportunity to lord yourselves for lifting a shovel.... Why the hell would anyone come and help you dig????

I've never crashed or been hurt at Stainburn. Can you crash there?!? After riding there twice (yes I was so bored I went back to see if I'd been unduly harsh the first time) Surely the only danger of crashing is if you fall asleep and get your leggings caught in your granny ring on your way round the dullest garden path in Yorkshire.

I'm betting, by the way you're cracking on here, that you're about 16 and your mother still wipes your arse. Wise up, shut up and stop wasting valuable digging time.

Whahey! Like your style dude! I have seen the conflict on the Singletraction forum since all this shit started. I've been looking back at the grief some people get on there. Doesn't make me want to help with their digging. Ride on bro!

What conflict?

About digging at Silton one or two years ago!

Anonymous said...

Sounds like the dud and anonymoose number 2 have added each other as friends to their Facebook profiles.

Dyslexia - not sure it's a laughing matter if it's something you actually have.

And i don't think i've ever blown up my own ego by claiming to be a digger - all i've done is defend the hard work of those who have dug, from those who think their work is a 'garden path'. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us on your creations so we can get a reasonable comparison.

Nice to see 'conflict' from 2 years ago dragged up, not sure how it's relevant here though ?

Can i suggest rather than wising up and worrying about my arse you learn to relax - you sound a little tense about this issue.

Dudesterlang said...

Sorry I had forgotten about this topic, I thought it had been done to death. Are you getting all lonely with just you, your computer?
a) I am not on Facebook
b) You are the one who joked about dislecksia although you quite clearly know how to write.
c) You wouldn't approve of any other digging other than Forestry approved.
d) The relevance of Silton 2 years ago is the 'grief people get from people like you' factor
e) MMmmmmmm wonder who is the tense one? One person agrees & with me & your teddy's out of the pram.
I think your life needs some direction - hopefully away from me.

Just found a bookmark to this thread - always good for a laugh to follow it through and realise what a load of cr@p was spouted and how desperate some people were to shout down the hard work done by SingletrAction.

And guess what, no-one did turn up for that dig day after all. Such an opportunity missed......
